Extra echo spaces: ultrasonography and computerised tomography correlations.

چکیده
Among the echocardiograms of 844 patients of the International Goodwill Hospital from January 1980 to April 1981, 700 showed clinically inexplicable extra echo spaces. Fifty of the 700 had computerised tomography of their hearts which showed the extra echo spaces to be caused either by anterior or posterior subepicardial fat. Six of the 50 cases had both fat and pericardial effusions, which are difficult to differentiate echocardiographically unless follow-up clinical observations are performed. Subepicardial fat deposits are reasonable explanations for the extra echo spaces frequently observed by echocardiography: they correlate well with clinical findings. Subepicardial fat should be recognised as the cause of such extra echo spaces.

The value of power Doppler ultrasonography in the differential diagnosis of intracranial extraaxial fluid collections.
PURPOSE The aim of this study was to determine the value of power Doppler ultrasonography in the differential diagnosis of intracranial extraaxial fluid collections in enlarged subarachnoid spaces. MATERIALS AND METHODS The study included 11 patients referred to our hospital's radiology department between April 2001 and February 2002 who were determined to have intracranial extraaxial effusio...
متن کاملEcho-enhanced ultrasonography: is it the future gold standard of imaging in acute pancreatitis?
We report the imaging of a patient in whom the diagnosis of acute pancreatitis and the assessment of disease severity was carried out using echo-enhanced ultrasonography. Contrast-enhanced computed tomography confirmed the echo-enhanced ultrasonography picture. Echo-enhanced ultrasonography may become the imaging technique of choice in assessing the severity of acute pancreatitis since it is ea...
متن کاملTransabdominal Ultrasonography of the Small Bowel
In the era of double balloon enteroscopy, capsule endoscopy, CT, and MRI enterography is transabdominal ultrasonography (TUS) underestimated method for evaluation of small bowel pathology. As often initial imagine method in abdominal complaints, nowadays has TUS much better diagnostic potential than two decades ago. High-resolution ultrasound probes with harmonic imaging significantly improve r...
متن کاملRenal angiomyolipoma.
• Renal angiomyolipomas (AMLs) are usually easy to diagnose with imaging alone. They have unique characteristics on ultrasonography, computerised tomography and magnetic resonance imaging that usually allow AMLs to be differentiated from other renal masses. • If this is not possible on imaging criteria then biopsy can be performed and AMLs have unique immunohistochemical staining that allows th...
متن کاملUltrasonography of immature teratomas: 11 case reports
Background: Ovarian immature teratoma is a very rare type of tumor associated with a high relapse rate and mortality. Correspondingly, early diagnosis is important for effective treatment. The goal of this study was to retrospectively analyze the ultrasound characteristics of 11 cases of immature teratomas. Materials and Methods: Between January 2002 and December 2010, 11 patients were diagnose...
